Being based in Maastricht Netherlands has its perks. One of those, is that it’s basically at the heart of Europe, with the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland, and… Luxembourg all within easy reach a few hours drive or train ride. On one gloomy weekend I took a car drive down south to explore a bit of Luxembourg. I started off with Luxembourg City and right before sun down I made it to Vianden with the imposing castle on the mountain top, and the very picturesque village and river down below. The village is right next to the border crossing with Germany and had some strategic importance back in the days, and some of that old times feel is still very much in there, making a stroll down the main street and a visit to the fortress a special treat.
To give you a taste of the charming little town, here is a bit from photo walk …

Hope to have the chance to come back some day, in better sunnier weather, and explore more of the area.
