I’ve been to Bangkok several times before, but it seems like every time I have a different experience and find a new side to the city. In my visit during 2022 escaping the Hong Kong lock-down measures against the growing Omicron panic, Thailand was easing up, and all I needed to do was a hotel wait until my PCR check clears and then I was free to roam around. What a relief. After difficult months in Hong Kong Bangkok was exactly what I needed. Space, lovely warm weather, friendly locals, and lots to explore and do. Many things were still closed and have not rebounded from the horrific effects of the pandemic, but it gave me hope and healed my soul.
This was my more posh stay, so for most of my stay I had a lovely hotel next to the river and an upscale shopping mall, and found lots of great cafes to work from, and new places to visit I had not visited before.
Bangkok has helped me feel more optimistic about 2022 and give me the energy to embark on an intense travel year to resume world explorations, and for that I am grateful.
Here is my brief photo and video summary of Bangkok (compare that to my previous visit in 2019)…
