I thought I’ve seen all that there was to see in the Sai Kung national park, having lived in the area for a while, but seems like I keep discovering new things. This time, Yim Yin Tsai, a deserted Christian Hakka village, which felt like a trip back in time. A quick fishermen boat from the Sai Kung Town ferry terminal, and you’re at the island, and there is one main circular hike path that goes around the island and with a connecting bridge to the near by Kau Sai Chau golf course.
On weekends, you can work the salt fields, as the locals once did, and there are some interesting remains of the local village that once stood there. The old church seems to have been renovated, and there is some information and suggested activities in the nearby buildings and farm.
Some of the island has hills, featuring a cemetery and a few pavilions, and from up there you can get some panoramic views of the gorgeous Sai Kung area.
So, let’s hop on a boat…
