Sai Kung has some of Hong Kong’s most gorgeous scenery, and it’s always a treat to be able to explore more of that region. Though I’ve covered many of the main hikes in that region, I occasionally am able to discover new ones that show me yet another gorgeous side of the geopark that takes me breath away.
The Pak Lap loop is a great short trek that can be done from the High Island Reservoir East Dam starting point. You can take a taxi all the way to that starting point and explore from there. You’ll get to see the dam, the geopark geological formations, cliffs and hidden beaches, and lots of lush green and clear waters with uninterrupted nature views.
Some of the highlights include: Kim Chu Wan, Po Pin Chau, Fa Shan’s Rock Columns , Stone Stacking Zone , Wong Nim Wan, Tide Pool, Tsat Chung Beach, Pak Lap Bay Beach, Pak Lap Village, Tung A, and Pak A.
