An unexpected treat is the Ma Shi Chau Nature Trail hike in northern Hong Kong. It’s a short trail, easily approachable through a local village, taking you deep into the UNESCO Global Geopark, with wonderful views of the nearby peninsula. You start from the Sam Mun Tsai village, make your way up the hill through the graveyard, and make it to the other side with the tombolo connecting to another mini island. Then, it’s a pleasant walk along the beach side. For the way back, you can even catch a local fishermen boat to take you back to the village if you don’t feel like hiking back.
