During my last visit to the Los Angeles area to attend a conference in Long Beach, I made a short visit to the University of California Los Angeles campus to get a feel of what a warm sunny ivy league world-class university campus looks like. Suffice to say I soon become quite jealous, the architecture, the open areas, the class-rooms, the diversity of the students, the weather – everything was just very impressive. In my field of research, UCLA hosts some of the best scholars in the world, both in terms of depth and numbers.
Below is my quick tour of the campus, mainly concentrated in the north-eastern area, where the Anderson business school I was visiting is located.
Lots of charming little hidden spots, like this sculpture garden…
Location:
If you have some extra time, up on the northern side of campus is the Fowler Museum, and down south is the Hammer Museum, both terrific university museums worth your time. I was also lucky to catch a wonderful theater production at the campus based Geffen Playhouse Theater (The Night Alive). A wonderful day spent at this charming campus, I would be happy for an opportunity to come back and visit in an official capacity one day.
