Last year, my dad and I were visiting Vienna Austria, and were looking for something new to do in the area. Since I’ve never been to Slovakia, and it was so close, we decided to do quick weekend getaway to go explore Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.
It was charming, laid back old town with a lot of pedestrian walking streets with many great restaurants and bars, a wonderful river area crossing the city, a few nice local attractions (some covering the former local Jewish community), and the typical hill top fort and museums to catch some panoramic views of the city and the river from above.
We spent a couple of lovely days walking around and exploring the streets of the old town, and visiting museums and the fort. We even ventured to the nearby forest park, caught the cable car, hiked a bit, and went up a mid-forest observation deck to catch wonderful views of the mountain top forest from above.
