After three hectic months stuck in Hong Kong, the last stage of a long pandemic, I was finally able to venture out in December 2023 to visit one of my favorite countries – Japan. I’ve previously visited and enjoyed the nearby Ishigaki, so I thought I had a general idea of what Okinawa would feel like, but every part of Japan is a little bit different with its own style and charm and Okinawa did not disappoint.
Started off in Naha with some funky local attractions and the mandatory castles and then ventured up by car to the island’s middle to see a bit more nature, beaches, mountains, and cultural villages. December is still quite cold and gloomy, but even with that it was a fun visit and left me wanting to see more of Japan. I also didn’t get a chance to explore the many smaller islands surrounding the island, so that’s left for my return in hopefully warmer weather.
For now, I’ll share some of my adventures in the lovely Okinawa island in southern Japan…
