After a somewhat challenging first half of 2023 in visiting Malaysia and Indonesia, Greece seemed like a very calm and charming place to rewind and recharge. I visited around Easter time, which meant that everything was off season very quiet. Not hot enough for the beach mass crowds, and not too cold to stop me from exploring.
I honestly knew very little about Kos, and didn’t decide on visiting from Rhodes until the very last minute, in the hope of catching a connect ferry to the nearby Bodrum in Turkey. That meant that I had a few lovely surprises, discovering that it was the birth place of Hippocrates with various Greece-era medicine and science related attractions, as well as lovely mountains and castle ruins that I had absolutely all to myself, and mostly empty beaches.
It’s a very small island so you could easily explore the whole island in a day or two, a good stop on the way from the Greek islands to mainland Turkey, if that’s your destination.
I give you, my visions of the quiet and charming Kos island in Greece…
