In my most recent trip to mainland China, to try out the new bridge from Hong Kong to Macau, I went for my first visit of Zhuhai. I think Zhuhai is generally an underrated tourist destination in our region, with all the nearby cities, but it has quite a bit to offer.
One of my discoveries was the New Yuan Ming Palace (Yuan Ming Xin Yuan), set in the Ban Zhang Shan (Stone Forest Mountain) park, a large green area with a high mountain with hiking paths overlooking Zhuhai from above. It is suppose to be some kind of small replica of the Old Summer Palace and offers quite a few attractions for families with kids.
My favorite part, obviously, was the cable car, taking you from ground park level all the way up to mountain top, for a short hike, with grand views of the coastline. Was a gloomy smoggy day, but on a clear day, this should be spectacular.
