In one of my last visits to Japan, back when the world was open, I visited the western region of the Fukuoka, and had several daytrips to explore the area. One of those was a trip towards the east, to see the city of Kitakyushu, where I got to go up the mountains with the wonderful Mount Sarakura cable car and visit strange attractions like the Toto Toilet Museum.
The city has its own central castle – Kokura Castle, with a nearby Yasaka Shrine, and surrounded by the Katsuyama Park and a large shopping area, overlooking the Murasaki river.
Overall, a pleasant end to a lovely day, walking around a calm Japanese city.
