In my last visit to Tai O village, I lingered longer, and had time to try a new trail in the hills surrounding the village, the Fu Shan hike. It’s typically used as an observation point to look towards the sea and look for white and pink dolphins that sometimes hang out over there (Dolphin viewing tours leave regularly from Tai Village). It’s a nice easy trail, with panoramic scenic views in all directions, with a resting pagoda half way, and some dolphin statues to mark the dolphin viewing spot.
This is what it’s looks like, just as you finish the incline and are about to embark on the mountain ridge…
The trail starts on the northern outskirts of the local fishing village…
With a magical local temple overlooking the Lantau island mountains, and the bridge connecting Hong Kong to Macau…
That’s where you catch a hidden trail going up the mountain, with some nice views of the village from above…
And you’re on the Fu Shan mountain ridge…
Until you meet the dolphins…
And then it’s going downhill all the way back to the village…
A wonderful short easy 2 hour laid back hike…
