For some truly panoramic views of the best of Hong Kong overlooking Sai Kung from the west, is Ma On Shan. The highlight is the Ngong Ping Viewing Point, where some wind gliders take off towards Sai Kung, and the views are nothing short of breath-taking.
It’s not even that difficult, half way to the top is reachable by car or Taxi, the trail is full of water and places to rest, and the incline isn’t too bad (up until the last stretch that goes to the peak of Ma On Shan). One of the best value for effort hikes that you can do in Kowloon. I started from Mui Tsz Lam rd as far up as I could go, about half an hour hike up, and then you’re on the mountain ridge. I then ended the hike going east towards Sai Kung Town.
