In my last visit to Bangkok I was located in the old part of Bangkok not too far away from China Town where the Bangkok Design Week titled “Fusing Forward” was taking place across several locations in the area.
Check out the event map and you’ll see it was basically all over Bangkok:
I spent a good part of a day exploring the various locations and briefly going through the exhibitions. The chosen locations were also very nice, old buildings that were transformed to lively museums. Some old building were in bad shape and so the number of visitors entering was controlled, but that just added to the appeal.
I started with this building…
With some funky exhibits inside…
Someone explained where and what to do…
Weird building in that area, like this embassy…
And graffiti art…
Sometimes, just walking around in the narrow alleys of the old neighborhood was an experience…
The old post office building had lots going on…
With interesting food…
And lots of art…
And “future design”…
Some movies…
And a lovely rooftop to see old Bangkok from above…
Funky activities in the main area…
Warehouse 30 not too far away had more cultural exhibitions and events…
Then, to cross the river…
And on the other side, yet another festival, with more arts, music, design, and alcohol.
Not what I expected to find in Bangkok, Bangkok was full of surprises. Was very happy to see that side of Bangkok, it was such a good day.
