While visiting Barcelona I met with a local and we roamed around in Barcelona for a whole day on foot. I was taken to all sorts of places that are a bit off the beaten tourist track, but are very much part of Barcelona. Agbar Tower, for example, is a tower Barcelonians love to hate, and you could easily see why this would be controversial. It’s suppose to look like a geyser rising into the air, but you don’t have to be Freud to see something else there, and the building has enjoyed lots of horrible nick-names. Next to it, BTW, is a shopping mall that offers a nice terrace of the Agbar area from above.
Moving on, we headed down to the pier, with yet another controversial landmark – the Forum Building, which served the 2004 Universal Forum of Cultures. It’s basically an exhibition hall surrounded by funky architecture, right next to a marina pier.
Lots to see and explore around Barcelona, and each piece of architecture has an interesting context and meaning.
Shall we take a walk through Barcelona?
