If you follow the blog you’ll soon realize that I love cable cars and take every chance I get to ride them. When it comes to traveling around and exploring new places cable cars up going up mountain tops and overlooking cities are often the highlight of my trips, especially in terms of views. Gorgeous Barcelona has plenty to see and explore but one of the nice things about the city is that it is surrounded by tall mountains offering panoramic views of the city and the coast. There are a few such options (e.g., Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus), and one of those is the lovely Montjuïc Castle Teleferic de Montjuic (Montjuïc Cable Car) which goes up all the way to Montjuïc Castle, a well-located well-preserved 17th century fort right at the mountain top. If you time your visit right, you’ll enjoy a a lovely sunset with romantic views of the city. While you can do a round-trip cable car ride, I’d actually suggest doing the way up and walking the way back through the nearby part and gardens.
Shall we go up?
Exploring around the Montjuïc Castle fort …
And looking down at the busy city port…

If only I had a better night low-light camera. The views from the top are spectacular, the ride is fun, and the fort is worth exploring. A great spot in Barcelona.
