On my second visit to Siquijor I stayed with a resort on the south-western side of the island, hoping to explore a bit more of the southern beaches. After visiting the local waterfalls, watching a local cocking fighting match and drinking a bit of local milk produce at the “Kapanig Island Fresh Milk” I continued onwards towards the beaches.

As it was a weekend, the beaches had quite a few groups of locals resting with some horrible sounding Karaoke and lots of kids were playing around.

Being the foreigner attraction that I am, I soon became the kids’ center of attention and the camera in my hands got them into a photo-op frenzy.

Adorable little things, aren’t they?

Actually, as interesting as KTVing can get, by itself it wouldn’t usually hold up for long, which is why the locals spice it up with the following alcoholic abomination – Coconut Wine…

In this photo you can actually see both the so called “wine” and the so called “wine glasses”. So if the taste of that reddish liquid didn’t make you want to throw up, having this served in a plastic container – previously containing some other exotic cuisine – probably will.

So, after a polite toast with a most unsuccessful attempt at an “it’s delicious” awkward smile, I parted to continue my journey…

The beaches are beautiful. White sand meets clear waters with lots of tropical green…

As the evening came, the tide went down, and the skies turned into a collage of grey and blue.

Had a blast. More to come…

What beach is this?

Come on, you’ve gotta love coconut wine (tuba)! It’s better if it’s fresh, because it’s sweeter. The hardcore guys like the older, more sour version because the alcohol content is higher.
