Lizhi Park : Shenzhen

The more I visit Shenzhen, the more I become aware that there are different sides to this city. The local government has done a fair job of building up parks and green next to the endless urban skyscrapers, highways and gigantic shopping malls.

Take Lizhi Park, for example? What's so special about a park and that park especially? you might ask. Well, if you head over there during a weekend, it's where you'll get to see all the locals taking a rest from their hectic lives to engage in various activities that are quite unique to China.

If you survived this far, here's a great tip for you if you're visiting Lizhi Park. Just next to the park, near the MTR is one of Shenzhen's newest monstrosity skyscraper, said to be the 8th tallest in the world. On the 97th floor is the St. Regis Hotel with a terrific bar and a grand view overlooking Shenzhen. Beers are around 30yuan and Chinese tea goes for about 60yuan, a bargain considering the views and grandeur that come along with it.
