I love what they did with Mamila. Going from the center of town up to the Jaffa gate of the old city is now the renewed Mamila. A gorgeous preserved neighborhood turned a relaxing shopping district with a combination of the traditional Jerusalem stone architecture with modern coffee hangouts and expensive shops. In the evening time, it’s just a terrific place to walk around in with the lighted walls of the old city behind.
(Notice the numbers that are still on the stones to mark every stone’s position to make sure that after the renovations the stones will go back to where they belong)
At the end of the Mamila pedestrian-way, Jaffa Gate with the nearby Tower of David is still its pretty self, but with a new chillout bar-pub section, the first one to ever open inside the old city, as far as I know.
Beautiful. I love the old city.
