When thinking about Korean food, Kim Chi is one of the first things to come to mind. I joined my fellow Taiwanese, consisting of two from NCKU where I study, for a Kim-Chi session…
My artistic video lasted till she told me to close the camera to protect “trade secrets”. I assure you making Kim-Chi is really quite easy.
At the end of the session, being the good tourists that we are, we all dressed up in traditional Korean clothing and made asses of ourselves. Okay, they didn’t (they look Asian!), I did :$
Somehow, it doesn’t quite look as good as Korean dramas or my Korean friends’ wedding photos. Some special Korean flavor missing, maybe 😛
As traditional as it is, few that are from another culture will ever make it, so you have gone beyond the scope of a tourist to actually make the signature food. This is what makes tourists look better, as you did not take part in a way such that you would be looking at their food like it came from an unknown planet. This information shows that it is a standard food, and is made from standard ingredients.
But what did yours taste like?!
Oli – mine? eh, eh, I think it tasted like cabbage in spicy sweet stuff. 😛
