One of the nicest treats when visiting Ishigaki island was a little detour I did taking a ferry ride to visit Taketomi Island and explore the Iriomote Ishigaki National Park. That island is like a trip back in time, with gorgeous island scenery featuring crystal clean beaches and lagoon , and lots of wonderful little attractions in every corner. The whole island can be toured by foot in a few hours, which will give you plenty of time to also chill and enjoy the local hangouts. There are also several small Shinto shrines and towers and some fun specialty Japanese eateries and cafes.
Arriving at the ferry terminal…
What’s on the island?
Start with the inner island town…
With some interesting local life…
And once you’ve had enough you head out to circle the island through amazing beaches…
With the loveliest lagoons…
and, finally, head back to the main Ishigaki island…
