It’s been almost a decade since I last visited the Kowloon Walled City park, so it was time to go check out the area again. It was actually one of the places I saw on my first ever visit to Hong Kong, long before I made Hong Kong my home, and I still have some vivid memories of seeing some random street show Cantonese opera nearby, and the amazement with some of the videos of the Hong Kong slums that once occupied this area.
Much to see and do in the area, lovely Chinese gardens, sculptures, fortification wall ruins, playgrounds, and a local museum detailing the history of this place.
We’ll start with the park…
With its lovely Chinese pagodas and gardens…
This area used to hold Hong Kong’s slums, a fascinating history…
With a nearby museum explaining everything with photos and videos…
Random pagodas with exhibits of a lost culture…
The zodiac sculptures…
A few ponds and artificial waterfalls surrounded by green…
Lots of wonderful eateries, restaurants with all Asian cuisines, and lovely artisan tea/coffee shops nearby.
