I’m not exactly sure why, but I’ve heard – a number of times – that Athens isn’t a very pleasant city. Which just made my enjoyment of this gorgeous city even greater. I expected little, and got a world class capital city, with the obvious remarkable Greek history sites, but also with lots of terrific hang-out culture spots and overall perfect two days spent in this lovely destination. My dad and I arrived from different parts of the world to meet up middle of the night at our accomodation near the Acropolis area, to begin the following day fresh with brilliant weather climbing up the nearby hill with very impressive tours back in history overlooking Athens from above. In the following couple of days, we walked a lot, exploring various parts of the city, sometimes going in to see ruins and learn of the fascinating regional history, but also balancing these with yummy local Greek food, local entertainment, city parks, and people watching. I think we were both thrilled with how nice everything was.
So, to sum up the very positive experience, here’s a walking tour of the places we visited in Athens…
