Wrapping up my long stay at Sapporo in Hokkaido last summer, there are two places I left unmentioned in Sapporo the Former Hokkaido Government Office near the train station and the Maruyama Park and Hokkaido Shrine I visited on the way to the cable cars. The government office you’ll probably stumble upon a few times when roaming around Sapporo, and during the time that I was visiting this was a hub to funky bun festivals going on in the area. The Maruyama Park hosts the Hokkaido Shrine and other attractions, like the Maruyama Zoo and Stadium, and is very close to the Sapporo Miyanomori ski area and ski jump lifts that take you up to the mountains for spectacular views of the area.
