Lots of curious things happened when I was staying at the Sapporo area in the northern Hokkaido region of Japan during the summer. Happened a few times that I took a bus hoping to get to one attraction and then through some misunderstanding and miscommunication with the local Japanese ended up visiting a completely different attraction. The Takino Suzuran Hillside National Government Park is one such attraction.
I was trying to get to the 札幌芸術の森センター art sculpture park, but keeping track on Google Maps, I son realized the bus I took isn’t stopping at that park but rather continuing to a large family park and playground. Like most things with Japan, you really can’t go wrong, it’s all quite magical and gorgeous, and so this little mistake detour ended being a wonderful adventure. Lots of green, waterfalls, botanical gardens, with ponds, flowers, and trees, funky kiddie attractions that adults can try out as well, all just perfect for some high quality Japanese family time. One of the greatest things there was watching the local Japanese having a blast.
Shall we enter?
