There are quite a few tourist traps in Sapporo, but perhaps the biggest one of all is the Chocolate Factory, catered especially for the mass Chinese tourist crowds. It’s run by Ishiya, a local chocolate company, that has devised a brilliant theme park like attraction around its chocolate. I’ve visited two other such disasters, the Hershey Chocolate Works, and the so called Chocolate Museum in Cologne Germany. I have no excuse other than that, well, it’s chocolate, and so even if it’s a tourist trap, you just might eat some commercial mass-produced chocolate to get the sugar running in your veins.
Let’s go in…
There’s, well, shopping…
Especially targeted at the enthusiastic kids…
With various funky attractions that have nothing to do with chocolate…
But, then, there’s the chocolate tour, where you get to see chocolate production in action…
And learn about the history of chocolate through some fairly advanced exhibitions…
With endless offerings of all sorts of things that are somehow in some world related to chocolate…

I’d say, stay away, unless you have way too much time on your hands in Sapporo, or just can’t resist over-commercialized mass-produced chocolate related attractions.
