Possibly one of the most recognizable icons to anyone anywhere in the world, definitely to all Russians and former-USSR countries, the Red Square (together with the Kremlin) is the heart of the Russian political authority. A UNESCO heritage site, with magnificent cathedral structures, the Kremlin hosting the Russian president, the Lenin mausoleum, all surrounding a wide open-space that is the center of Moscow. Day or night, it’s a wonder to behold, and almost every day I somehow found myself walking through it on my way to explore some other part of Moscow. All the sights in the area are worth standing in line for and seeing for yourself. The way things are today, it’s a bit hard to see the gloomy grey harsh Red Square that the Hollywood movies would have us make of the area, it’s all pretty much geared towards tourism, but there’s little doubt that it’s all very impressive.
Here are some random shots from my many walks through the square while I was visiting Moscow…

If you’re in Moscow, you’ll see the Red Square, there’s no other way. It’s that simple.
