Had less than a day to roam around Genoa, so had to prioritize visits to attractions. Of all the museums available in Genoa, I decided on Galata, the maritime and history museum of the city and region with some funky addition of visiting a submarine. The main museum has great exhibitions about sea travel and sea related social issues like migration, and the nearby submarine allows you a glimpse into the difficult life of serving aboard a sub. I spent around 3 hours roaming around, and I did it fairly quickly. There’s lots of information, and interesting takes, that I could see how visitors would choose to linger longer. There is also a great rooftop with terrific views of the city and harbor.
Let’s start from the end… the sub.
Hard life, right?
Then you’d appreciate exploring life on old ships… just as hard and challenging, especially with the hygiene standards of old times.
The wonderful rooftop…
And various themes…
And old ships…
