On a gloomy winter Friday, I headed up from Maastricht to Eindhoven to attend a workshop at the Eindhoven Institute of Technology (EIT). Before that trip up I knew very little about this institute and only caught a glimpse of it on the train ride when near the Eindhoven train station. Turns out that this institute is a high reputation tech university, MIT style, that focuses on engineering and exact sciences, so coming from the social sciences there aren’t too many departments focusing on my domains of interest. But, hard to disentangle tech and people and so EIT also has scholars who study human behavior. Since it was gloomy winter and raining I didn’t get to see the campus in ideal settings, which I hope to correct at some point. But still, it had its own charm. I also appreciated that it was – unlike Maastricht University – a campus. It’s own buildings, roads, streams, lakes, cafes, etc.
The workshop, BTW, blew my mind away. Science is now undergoing a revolution and it was nice to see the scientific developments and the scholars that are heading some of the changes in the way that we think of and conduct science.
To give you a quick tour of the campus…

Hope to come back in more ideal weather and get to meet more people in EIT.
