Coming down south from Havana Cuba to explore the southern coastline, I had very limited time to visit Cienfuegos and see the area. I arrived at my airbnb with a lovely local host, and asked for help in trying to make the most. With his help, I was able to really see a lot of the area in a very short time. First thing I did, a taxi driver took me down through the sea-side beaches to a ferry pier, where I almost immediately caught a ferry going over to the other side, where I walked a bit to see the 18th century Castillo de Jagua, protecting the entrance to the Cienfuegos bay area. Inside are a few historical artifacts, and some panoramic view from the overlooking the bay area. Near the ferry pier were seafood restaurants, and once back, my taxi driver took me to the beaches, and then left me at the southern tip of Cienfuegos city, from which I walked slowly back up north to the city center, exploring the area.
