Been wanting to visit the famous Princeton University campus for quite some time, but it was only a recent conference in New York City that I was able to finally make it. Once the conference was over, I took the train from Penn Station to arrive at the empty campus on National Day. Students already graduated, almost all facilities were closed, and I had the whole campus for myself. It isn’t a very large campus, I was surprised to find out, and you can easily tour the whole area within 3-4 hours. Indeed, the campus is quite charming, very picturesque, as I hope my photos below would show. The Princeton town next to it has a decent offering of restaurants and cafes that were quite pleasant on this quiet day, and so the day spent wondering around campus and the little town was enjoyable.
If you haven’t heard of Princeton, it is a private Ivy league school dating back almost 300 years. The day I arrived the news was covering the death of John Nash (AKA ‘brilliant mind’ from the movie on his life), one of the many Novel laureates from this university. Many others in the American elite graduated from Princeton and being a Princeton alumni is very likely to help with your future tie building and job opportunities. In my field, Princeton is among the top schools in the world, definitely top-5, and the only psychologist to ever win a Nobel prize – Daniel Kahneman – is still very much active as an Emeritus professor with the Princeton Woodrow Wilson School of Public & International Affairs.
