During my last month in Europe before moving to Asia, I was on a rush to try and taste as much as possible in Europe, and a quick Wizzair flight away from my base in the Netherlands was the Romanian Timisoara. So I spent a weekend there, exploring the streets of “Vienna of the East” and having all sorts of strange experiences with some of the local folks. From a Communist Museum bar, to a Shisha night with an Israeli arab, to pizza at 9am with a bored local, Romanian street movie with enthusiastic drunk locals, to a fantastic random Beethoven classical music concert I just happened to wonder into, and some rock concerts playing at the river near the hotel. That was plenty for a short weekend, and so even if the town center may seem small, it does seem like this town has a lot of potential.
To share with you some of my weekend there…

Unexpectedly fun weekend. Should try and make it back to Romania at some point to explore more…
What a busy schedule for just one weekend. You got to experience a lot of things, but it’s part of the charm that many Romanian cities have. You can never know what surprise you will find around each corner.
