It’s been 6 years since I last visited Nanjing with my father, and I recently had a chance to go back and visit for a work-related trip. I had a day or so to also wonder around the university area and explore Nanjing on foot, which led me to see Nanjing in a new light and revisit some of the old favorites. From the university area’s drum tower to the old city walls with the famous Gujiming Temple and then crossing inside to the lake park (Xuan Wu Hu Gong Yuan) and down south to the lively new areas of 1912 and Xinjiekou, it was all very walkable and quite charming. I was lucky to have great weather and less pollution, and so could enjoy my visit more than my previous trip. It would be nice to come back and visit more.
Lots to share about that trip, but for now a taste of my walk around the city, here are my visions of Nanjing.
