The first stop on my recent travels around Italy was to Florence up an hour and a half by the fast train from Rome. A long overdue trip, it was my first time ever visiting Florence, and there’s no doubt that it’s a very beautiful city. We did two days of Florence just walking around the city and enjoying its narrow streets and architecture. I could see why many would want to get married or honeymoon here, the art displayed everywhere and the feel of the city does give a romantic vibe, though – like many of the top attractions in Italy – there were too many tourists everywhere. If you’re into art, there are plenty of art museums to keep you entertained for a couple of weeks, but if – like me – you can’t survive in art museums for more than a couple of hours, then there are still enough attractions for more than a couple of days. Piazzas, mountain villas, parks, markets, not to mention a very wide selection of restaurants and night-life, it all seems like a middle-age tourists’ or lovers’ paradise.
So, here are my visions of beautiful Florence.
Piazzas
The river
The streets
The mountain top villas
And someone small for my family cultural heritage …
