Caesarea is one of the most intriguing places to visit in Israel. Built by Herod around 1st century BC as the center of his rule over Israel, or Roman Judea at the time. Nowadays, it’s a national park and a well done tourist attraction that really takes you back in time. The national park includes several exhibitions and displays, and a museum, with several video displays that explain the history of this place since the days of Herod. There are many excavated ruins, that put together give you a feeling of how grand this place once was. Together with the lively harbor filled with cafes and restaurants, and the lovely seaside, it’s definitely a place worth visiting and spending a few hours at.
