Upon my mother’s arrival to Taiwan, we started off with a few days in Taipei (check out the super detailed Taipei visit itinerary on Taiwanderful, professional, eh?). We spent the first day visiting National Palace Museum and catching a cultural show at Taipei Eye.
The second day we started off at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum (no photography inside). The museum hosts an interesting array of modern art, which I believe my mother was alot more into than I was.
I’m not entirely sure, but I think I saw a familiar face from the blogosphere when leaving. Here’s a dilemma for you – What do you do when you think you recognize a person from their blog? Would you be comfortable with someone walking up to you because of your blog? 🙂
Just next to it is the Taipei Story House which was featuring an exhibition about old Taiwanese brands.
Not too far away, maybe 15 minutes walk, are the Bao An and Confucius temples. The contrast between the two is perhaps a good introduction to the differences between Daoism (/Taoism) and Confucianism, endless Gods and rituals compared against the simpler name and wisdom scrolls.
(Here’s an exercise for you, which of those last photos is Bao-An temple and which is Confucius temple and why?)
