The Shing Mun Country Park hiking trail is a lovely easy hike around the Upper Shing Mun Reservoir. I did it on a rather gloomy rainy day, which added a bit to the magic. It features, well, a reservoir, views of Kowloon from afar, and, the main attraction perhaps, lots of monkeys. Naughty monkeys. Over large sections of the hike. Still surprises me sometimes that they’re there, so close to urban life.
The whole trail took me about 3 hours of very leisurely walk with a few stops along the way. After that I proceeded to a different hike of the lower Shing Mun Reservoir, but more on that will follow on later.
