Japanese gardens are always a treat, and the Kagoshima Sengan-en Gardens are a wonderful example. Overlooking the bay, with the scenic backdrop of the volcano mountains surrounded by water, it’s a magical place to explore, both for the gardens and for the views.
I was visiting during autumn season with colorful leaves, which made it even more special. The Edo gardens date back to 17th century, and so there are various attractions in there to learn more about the history, with a chance to visit the Iso residence, with a museum, and some lovely little shops and restaurants.
You can easily spend 2-3 hours wandering around and exploring.
Let’s go walk around a bit…
