After 14 years of being away I made my way back to where it all began – Chang Mai, my first stop on the 14+ years travel journey. I revisited places I’ve already been to, but also got a chance to see new things. I rented a scooter for a couple of days, and on the second day ventured south, an area I have yet to explore. Visiting a temple up on the mountains I saw a large park centered around a large temple and decided to come down and explore. Turns out these are royal gardens – the Royal Park Rajapruek – which also hosted international expo exhibitions. It’s a very large park, filled with goodies, and gardens and pavilions from all over the world, kept long after the expo was done.
I spent almost three hours walking around and enjoying the park. Aside from a few locals here and there it was mostly deserted, felt like I had the entire park for myself. Definitely wasn’t expecting any of this here, it was absolutely gorgeous.
Shall we enter?
The gardens leading up to the royal temple…
The central temple building, surrounded by lakes…
And on to the international pavilions and gardens…
