One weekend I was staying in northern Hong Kong near the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and was looking for veggie food in the area. One of the options that popped up was Green Hub, which seemed like a commune that grows organic food and has a cafeteria. I went to have a look, and boy, was I in for a treat. The Green Hub is situated in the old Tai Po Police Station, which also features a museum about the regional new territories history. I then discovered the history of the six day way when the new territories rebelled against the handover to the Brits, and all that led to building this Tai Po colonial station. I was so surprised by this revelation that I sent it to some of my Hong Kong friends asking about it, and some told me they never heard of that part of the local Hong Kong history. Wow.
So, you have great veggie food, in old colonial buildings, and lots to discover and learn about local history.
