In my recent visit to Melbourne Australia I took a weekend to go explore a bit of the area, and headed east, towards the Dandenong mountains. There are some spectacular views from those mountains in all directions, and if you look to the west you can see all the way to the Melbourne skyline. At “Sky high” there is an obervation deck next to a touristy maze and kids playground, and in that area are various trails and nice attractions, like the Dandenong botanical gardens, which you can easily spend two hours exploring on foot. On the way back, was nice to make a stop at the Red Bluff lookout overlooking some nice cliffs and a gorgeous beach, away from the hustle bustle of Melbourne city.
Overall, a fun daytrip out of Melbourne, only a couple of hours away.
