On my last day before leaving Taiwan on my recent summer visit I was looking for something I haven’t done yet, possibly with a fresh view of Taipei. The Miramar Park ferris wheel has been there fore a long time, but I never got around to trying it out, and so to say my farewells to Taiwan only a few hours before my flight out I decided to take a very quick Uber and rushed up the shopping mall to ride the ferris wheel. A ferris wheel on top of a shopping mall is a growing trend in Asia, I think it started out as a Japanese thing, and there’s a good reason why. If located right, it can really give you top notch views of a city. While the Miramar Park isn’t exactly central Taipei location it does offer good views of Taipei from afar and the nearby mountains, and on a clear day you can easily see the Taipei 101 across from the oddly located SongShan domestic airport.
Shall we go up and have a look?
Location:
Definitely not a must, but if you’ve done most of Taipei and the Taipei 101 observatory, then on a good day with clear skies this is a nice way of reconnecting with the city.
