The trip wasn’t well planned. We were too lazy to plan anything ourselves and ended up totally relying on agents that seemed like they knew something but as we executed their plan we always found out that they had their agenda. The drive day from Jodhpur to Udaipur through Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh was a bit insane. The Indian roads really aren’t a pleasure to drive through especially for a whole day, and our driver was behaving strangely.
After a motivation-less day for our driver where he was trying to convince us into shortcuts he suddenly regain his energies through a friend he met in our last hotel. Thing is, drivers are either taken care of by the hotel we stay at, or they sleep at the car, both options looking horrible to me and I constantly felt guilty, although they didn’t seem to mind. So, with the new driver friend who was taking an OZ the same way we were going, our driver was suddenly all talkative and really making an effort to make us happy, which would have been good if he had an English vocabulary of more than 5 words. We stopped a few times along the way to make and drink Chai with the other OZ-driver team.
After many hours, we finally arrived at Marble Ranakpur.
It was nice and all, but not quite sure it was worth the road hassle. A few hours away from there, was the Kumbhalgarh fortress. Yep, another fortress.
With some views from up on top that reminded me a bit of the Jerusalem hills.
And then… on the road again, for hours, till we arrived at the lake surrounded Udaipur, exhausted.
