To wrap up my visit to Phoenix during Christmas, I made a short visit to the University of Arizona in Phoenix. To catch a last glimpse of the city from above, I took the opportunity to climb up the nearby mountain and the Hayden Butte Preserve with panoramic views of the whole area. It’s a bit of a hike, but nothing too bad, only takes 15-20min.
While it was freezing cold snow in Illinois, it was desert warm in Arizona, and so the cold wind was a great break from the hot weather. Up on top, to my surprise, I found a Hannuka symbol, and some Christmas lights, with some of the students who stayed behind chilling out overlooking the sunset.
Location:
Phoenix isn’t the most beautiful city, but it is definitely different, with desert scenery in every direction, and the Hayden Butte Preserve is possibly the best place to look down at the desert city and take it all in.
