It’s a bit ironic that one of the first things I visited when visiting Sydney Australia, coming in from Hong Kong, is the Chinese Garden of Friendship. Well, it was right at the heart of down town, very close to my hotel, so I have an excuse, and, to be fair, it is a very nice Chinese Garden. So, while walking around looking for some food, I saw it and was curious, so wandered in to have a look and realized what a wonderful little gem this is. I have seen my fair share of Chinese Gardens, and though this one isn’t anything too spectacular, it is quite lovely, especially given that it is in, well, Australia. Not too far away, right at down town, is, you guessed it, China Town. China town is basically Asia Town, mostly a mix of westernized flavor Asian restaurants, though here and there are streets with more authentic looking places, one of which I tried out and it did feel a bit like I’m in Hong Kong. The Sydney and Melbourne China Towns were probably the closest I got to feeling China before I knew anything about China, coupled maybe together with the New York City and London China Towns that are also pretty great.
Anyhoo, if you want to get a bit of a Chinese vibe in Sydney, here’s a bit from my tour of the place…
