It’s been over 10 years since I last visited Kaohsiung, and I’ve always had the fondest memories, so I was excited last year to go back and revisit the city and have a chance to check out old spots. First up on my Kaohsiung tour was the area around the old colonial British Consulate at Takow. Long ago, I went there with my Chinese teacher and classmates, and we had lots of fun. Since that first time I revisited a couple of times, although I never wondered around on my own and explored, so this time was a bit different.
I started off at the pier area, with breakfast at a lovely cafe, and then wandered slowly towards Sizihwan Scenic Area that hosts the old British Consulate. After that, I explored the nearby area of Kaoshiung’s National Sun Yat-Sen University with a scenic boardwalk and relaxed beaches.
Let’s have a look.
Pier area…
Crossing over the bridge…
Arriving at the old consulate…
Scenic views from the top…
Making my way down to the boardwalk…
And into SYSU campus…
With its own pier…
And beach…
