Apollonia national park (Tel Arsuf) is set in one of the most gorgeous parts of the Israel coast, near Herzliya. Wasn’t expecting to find anything that nice in that area, but to me this is a world-class archeological site with spectacular views of the Israeli Mediterranean sea-side.
This site dates back to 5-6th century BC, with various empires taking over this place, destroying and rebuilding over the years. Much of what remains is from the crusader period, though there are some remains dating back far longer than that.
Check out these views from the ancient site, with Herzliya and Tel Aviv in the very far back…
Let’s enter… with some typical fortifications…
Roman homes and baths? nice!
The main fort…
Overlooking some beautiful beaches…
And, finally, just to get you into the times…
