Earlier this year I revisited Philadelphia Pennsylvania to spend time with family in the area. After some time exploring Philly we went on a short road trip in the region, and did a few of the Amish community attractions in the area. One nice example is the Amish Farm and House near Lancaster with a long guided tour of an Amish house walking you through their traditions and lifestyle, and then exploring a farm just outside, with plenty of kiddy attractions and fun to peculiar things to play around with. There are a few Amish local artists there sharing a bit of the folk art or simply working going about their business.
After that, we thought of doing a buggy ride, but somehow everything was overwhelmed with ultra orthodox Jews who were first in line. I admit it was a bit odd seeing the ultra orthodox visiting the Amish as a tourist attraction.
Shall we go in?
Our guide…
With stories about each room…
Some stories were, well, different…
And then we went out to explore the farm…
And tried to find a free buggy, but no, lots of ultra orthodox families in line…
