Like alligators? Florida has lots of those for you all over the state, but you’re most likely to get a kick out of the Everglades National Park, a massive wetlands down in southern Florida. It’s probably one of the must day trip attractions if you’re visiting Miami, and one of the most pleasurable experiences I’ve had during my trip to southern Florida. On a rental car, I made my way through native American land to join a guided tour taking me through the wildlife and natural beauty of the Everglades.
But, first thing’s first, we’ll start with the alligators. They are all over by the hundreds and it seems as if the tour guide was familiar with most of them on a first name basis. You’ll hear all about how to tell how old they are and assess their size just by looking at their nose popping out of the water. You’ll definitely hear all sorts of tales regarding the friendly and nasty side of those creatures. As it usually is with tourism in the states, you can expect a fun, humorous and definitely fascinating guided tour with one those retired volunteer guides.
I was planning to take a photo of all the alligators we saw, but, after a few dozens of them I realized they all look the same. But what do I know?
So here we go…
Whether you’re into these creatures or not, it’s great fun. Go visit the Everglades.
