If you’re looking for some terrific Chinese snacks, then you’ll enjoy wondering around Xiamen’s Gulang Yu. In the two days that I’ve visited the island I’ve enjoyed an endless variety of local snacks that were absolutely delicious.
As you venture off the ferry taking you to the island you’re bound to come across many local groups holding various food guides to help them find the best of Xiamen’s local cuisine. It definitely seemed like the number one attraction for mainlanders and Taiwanese visiting the island, even though there are a few other terrific local attractions the island worth visiting the island for.
So, what’s on the menu? Glad you asked…
I guess the most obvious one, which I’m somewhat familiar with from the Taiwanese night-markets, is the oyster omelet. Only this one tasted slightly different, and I ‘m guessing it had something to do with the spices they put on it.
You can find many of the other things I’ve tried on this menu…
and I can say without hesitation that they were all delicious and had me coming for more.
Other than that you can find…
With the occasional sweet desserts…
Special variations of milk tea…
Or honey/herbel tea…
